About YU Kollel Torah Mitzion of Chicago
The mission of Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Kollel of Chicago is to nurture the spiritual growth of the greater Chicago Jewish community. The Kollel is an open community of learning that celebrates three core values: the primacy of Torah, the importance of positive interaction with general society and the culture and religious significance of the State of Israel.
Position Summary:
YU Torah Mitzion Kollel of Chicago seeks an accomplished Executive Director to serve as the chief development and administrative officer of the Kollel, partnering closely with the Rosh Kollel and Board of Directors to advance the Kollel’s strategic vision, financial sustainability, and community impact. The Executive Director reports to the Executive Board and Rosh Kollel, and receives the support of the staff leadership team. This is an opportunity for a dynamic leader to help shape the next chapter of a respected and growing organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead all fundraising and development activities, including the creation and implementation of annual fundraising strategies.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors.
- Expand institutional giving through foundation grants and program sponsorships.
- Oversee marketing and public relations strategy in partnership with the Marketing Director.
The Executive Director will be supported by the Director of Operations and the Marketing Director, and will work closely with Kollel fellows and the local Jewish community.
The Executive Director will oversee community relations and steward Kollel Board relationships in partnership with the Rosh Kollel.
This is a hybrid position requiring regular on-site work at our Chicago office while offering flexibility for remote work as appropriate.
The Executive Director will be measured by growth in fundraising, expansion of the donor base, and increased community visibility and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, Jewish communal organizations, or related fields.
- Proven success in fundraising and donor cultivation.
- Experience managing budgets and supervising staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to build relationships with volunteers, donors, and community leaders.
- Warm, engaging interpersonal style with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing the mission and core values of the Kollel.
- Hebrew language skills and knowledge of Orthodox Judaism strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive compensation package, including base salary and performance-based incentive compensation, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Kollel:
Building on more than 18 years of growth under the leadership of Rabbi Reuven Brand, the YU Torah Mitzion Kollel has become a highly respected and visible Torah institution serving the greater Chicago Jewish community. Beginning this fall, the Kollel will include five full-time fellows, including a full-time Rosh Chaburah. The Kollel offers community learning through its evening Beit Midrash, educational partnerships with local day schools, the NILI Women’s Learning Institute, youth programming, and numerous other educational initiatives. The Kollel’s impact is reflected in its longstanding reputation, broad community support, and sustained financial strength.
