Elliot Cohen

Elliot Cohen is the Executive Director of the YU Torah Mitzion Kollel.

Most recently, Elliot was the Director of Development for Yachad Chicago, a division of the Orthodox Union, where he achieved success in both fundraising and operations leadership – roles he will now play in our Kollel. Elliot’s prior positions in community leadership include Director of Operations at Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School here in Chicago, and principal of a Jewish day school in California. Elliot began his career in the world of finance, with stints at 1st Equity Bank, The Chicago Board of Trade, and PCNation.

Elliot earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and his Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, both from Loyola University Chicago. He also earned his Type 75 principal’s certification from the Illinois State Board of Education.  

Elliot, a proud member of our Semichat Chaver Program, is a product of Chicago’s Jewish day schools, and over the years has taught in a variety of Jewish educational settings – day school, high school, Hebrew school – across the Jewish religious spectrum. He is an alumnus of Hillel Torah and Ida Crown Jewish Academy, and a member of Congregation Shaarei Tzedek Mishkan Yair in West Rogers Park. 

Elliot and Shoshanah, a native of Toronto, have five children – four of whom attend local day schools/yeshivot and a daughter studying in New York.
